Drop by to meet Rev. Dr. Renita Marie Green, newly appointed Pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church and the founding Executive Director of The Center for H.O.P.E.—a Hub for Healing, Growth, and Connection. With more than twenty years of community and spiritual leadership, Dr. Green brings deep experience in building partnerships that turn compassion into tangible change. The Center for H.O.P.E. reimagines what outreach can be—spaces where people heal, learn, and rediscover purpose together. From life coaching and grief support to tutoring, digital learning, and sober social nights, each hub will help neighbors reconnect with themselves and each other. Join us to welcome Dr. Green, experience the vision firsthand, and help grow a movement rooted in love, healing, and shared possibility.

THE RICHARD ALLEN KINGDOM BUILDER’S AWARD

Will be presented to the rev. bernard carpenter

Rev. Bernard Carpenter had a vision for a church that was more than Sunday gatherings. He envisioned a place where the community gathered daily, lifting each other above the struggles of life. The HOPE Center was birthed out of compassion for the lost and the outcast—a place where the Love of Jesus removed the barriers of ALL the ~isms.

In 1787 the African Methodist Episcopal Church was birthed out of The Free African Society by our founder, Bishop Richard Allen. The FAS was a gathering of free Africans, Quakers, and other sympathizers who were determined to lift each other above the struggles of life.

Allen’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to owning several businesses—one of which was a blacksmith’s shop. It was in this shop that those who were segregated in St. George’s Methodist Episcopal Church worshipped with Allen preaching.

After a lengthy legal battle for autonomy, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that Allen had the right to plant his own Methodist Episcopal Church. This church, however, would be designated “AFRICAN” — a designation of safety, of purpose, and of empowerment.

It is because of Allen’s determination to stick with God and to be faithful to the heavenly vision that Bethel (the house of God) was birthed. This spirit was upon Pastor Carpenter as he was determined to stick with God and be faithful to the heavenly vision. This beautiful campus stands today as a witness to God’s power and presence.

After years of decline, Bethel is poised to reemerge as a place of HOPE in a hurting world.

Join us as we pay tribute to the Reverend Bernard Carpenter: for his visionary leadership, for his determination against the odds, and resilience in kingdom building.
